Health Insurance Updates
Recent news coverage about possible changes to the Affordable Care Act, also known as ObamaCare, may be causing you to have questions about your Ambetter health insurance coverage. We want to provide helpful information and answer your questions.
Below, you’ll find some questions and answers about the changes.
IS THE AMBETTER PLAN I PURCHASED CHANGING?
No, not at this time. However, executive action was taken on October 12th, which eliminates cost sharing reduction payments – also called CSRs.
As an Ambetter member, your current 2017 monthly premium amount and insurance benefits (deductible, copays and/or coinsurance) will not change because of this CSR decision. Any financial help you may be receiving to lower your monthly premium amount is currently still in effect for 2017. We encourage you to continue utilizing your coverage as you have been and paying your monthly premium to ensure you don’t have any gaps in coverage.
We will contact Ambetter members if there are any additional changes. Please check back for additional updates.
IF I DON'T HAVE COVERAGE DO I STILL HAVE TO PAY A PENALTY?
At this time, most Americans still need to have health insurance and could pay a tax penalty if they do not have coverage.
SHOULD I KEEP PAYING MY PREMIUMS?
Yes, you should continue paying your monthly premium payments on time to ensure you don’t have any gaps in coverage. Ambetter offers a variety of easy ways to pay including online, phone, MoneyGram and mail. Learn More.
